Florida insurers close nearly 200K Ian claims ‘without payment’

After the devastating impact of Hurricane Ian, the latest claims data released by Commissioner Michael Yaworsky reveals a disheartening reality. Insurance companies have closed a staggering 86% of claims, but here's the alarming part: almost 200,000 claims, or three out of 10, were closed without payment. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation is currently reviewing this data, but in many cases, insurance companies assert that there was either no damage or the damage fell below the deductible. However, attorney David Murray strongly disagrees, stating, "I don't believe that's true. That's not what we're seeing."
